Becoming an online fitness instructor is a great way to grow your business. You’ll be able to do what you love, providing clients with the tools they need to stay motivated and accountable on their fitness journey, and continue to train clients who travel often. Have a niche: Try focusing on just two personas, max. For example, you could advertise yourself as a post-natal specialist for new moms and an expert in lower body injuries or dysfunctions. If you market yourself in more fitness specialties than that, you risk appearing like a jack of all trades, master of none.

Create (+ distribute) content: You need to create an online footprint for yourself and your fitness business. Creating online content will be a necessity for people to get to know your brand. Whether it be blog posts, videos, or social media, you’ll need to make enough fitness-related content to make yourself known. Don’t get discouraged: Just because you no longer have to travel to clients or work 15-hour days, online training isn’t necessarily easier than face-to-face personal training sessions. It can be more challenging to build a rapport online, sales will most likely be slower than if you were prospecting on a gym floor, and you’re going to need to make a massive marketing push to get noticed among a sea of other online trainers. That being said, online fitness training is one of the best ways to grow your business and brand. Stick with it, even if the beginning is a little bit rocky.
